Athiests please answer these questions
by Mrs Smith ini'm not trying to pick a fight i was just sitting at my desk pondering on some threads on jwd and i would very much like this question answered.. why is it that athiest often (not always) direct their argument for athiesism towards christians?
why not direct your argument towards buddists or muslims or even new-agers?
i mean they also believe in a higher power so why is it that only christains seem to get knocked?

Help finding a scripture
by jookbeard inbeen trying to find a scripture i think o/t that is used to counter react the wts twisting of their adherence to abstaining from blood and all things strangled etc, the scripture speaks about if you obey a law of god that could threaten your life that you should rather save your own life rather than adhere to the law, anyone know where i'm coming from?

I know that there is a jewish law that says that anything is allowed (even if their is a biblical law against it) if it will save your life. That is why the jews accept blood transfusions. Don't know about a scripture though.

Thank you Layla, I don't know much about Buddhism. I was not "picking" on any specific religion I just used it as an example to bring my point across.

Before Athiests can answer your question you will need to prove to them that you really exist.
Trevor, I almost had coffee coming out my nose I laughed so much at this reply. Thanks I needed that.

Just trying to understand.

It was awful
by Mrs Smith inas i posted in a previous thread, i went to a friends funeral on friday( i'll call him peter).
it was my first time back to a kh in years.
as i walked in i overheard a "sister" telling her friend that she had to come straight from work and that's why she was wearing pants and that she hoped no one would think that she was "wordly".

Did she have any response to the funeral talk?
Yes she said that she wished her sister in law had chosen someone else to do the talk. She also said it was very short and not very touching, they could have mentioned a lot more about his life. I just agreed with her nothing else I could do.

You guys are the best! Thank you so much for the support. Only other x-jw's know how I feel at the moment. It helps to know that I'm not the only one who has gone throught this.

Bottom Line: What's Going To Happen To The Jehovah's Witness Religion?
by minimus inis it going to become mainstream?.
will it become more cultish?.
will it splinter off and re-create itself?.

Interesting question. I would like them to just disintergrate but I doubt that will happen. They survived 1975 so they are really good and stuffing up and still keeping the org together. I do think that the growth will slow down as more and more JWs leave. With the new members only watchtower they are already becoming more cultish. I don't think many of the younger ones will stay. The third worl countries are keeping the org in business as most of the studies and growth comes from there.

What kind of a funeral do you want?
by Princess Daisy Boo inso all this talk at the moment about funerals and stuff got me thinking... what kind of an exit party would i like?.
i reckon i would not want anything too formal, but i would want loads of people saying how great i was - i people to notice that i am no longer around, and be sad about it!
i want people to share good memories.

It wouldn't be about me, I would be dead! So whatever my loved ones want to do to make it easier for them would be fine by me.
